Moo milk is made right here in the UK by our co-operative of over 1,500 British dairy farmers called Milk Link. There are loads of different farms in the co-operative: big farms of over 200 cows, small farms of just 30 or so, organic farms and traditional dairy farms.
Moo milk is versatile, wholesome and a great source of calcium. It’s also filled to the brim with vitamins and minerals including riboflavin and vitamin B12 — perfect for strong bones and all-round well-being. Moo milk can be used just as you would fresh milk - it’s ideal for cooking, cereal, tea, coffee and even for drinking on its own.
Moo milk is perfect just as it is — we don’t take anything away or add anything to it. Most milk is heated to a high temperature to pasteurise it. To make Moo long life, we simply heat it to a higher temperature than usual for a much shorter time. This means that Moo milk will keep in a cupboard for up to six months before drinking. These days you may not be able to have fresh milk delivered to your door, but you can always have a carton of Moo on standby in the cupboard.
Protecting the countryside and building a better future is important to us, so we do all we can to ensure our products are as environmentally-friendly as possible. Moo products are packaged in cartons, made from paper which is from renewable resources. Our cartons are made with between 70-90% paperboard, so most of the carton can be reclaimed in the recycling process. Once collected, the packaging is pulped and the paper fibres used to make new paper products. The remaining plastic and aluminium mix is normally used to generate energy.

Long life milk has nothing added or taken away, it is simply heated to a higher temperature than fresh milk to make it last longer. This process is known as Ultra Heat Treating (UHT) and ensures that all of the natural nutritional goodness you would find in fresh milk is retained.
Organic dairy farmers use traditional methods to produce delicious organic milk that is good for you, the cows and the countryside. GM cattle feed, routine antibiotic treatments and synthetic pesticides are not permitted on organic farms.
Moo milk is part of Milk Link, the UK’s most progressive dairy business. Milk Link is directly owned by over 1500 British dairy farmers, ensuring that all profits go back to the farmers that produce the milk. All Moo products are filled at our dairy in Crediton, Devon and the majority of the milk comes from farms in the surrounding areas.
All our farmer members are accredited to the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Dairy Scheme, demonstrating that they produce milk to the highest standards of food safety and animal welfare. Please refer to Red Tractor Assurance for further information.
Cow welfare is of paramount importance to British dairy farmers. It is in their interest to have healthy animals and they have a legal, moral and financial obligation to maintain high welfare standards.
Different farmers operate different systems to look after their cows. The majority of cows will graze outside on grass during the summer when the weather is good. During the winter when the grass stops growing and the weather becomes cold and wet, the cows will tend to be kept indoors in comfortable housing and fed high quality feeds.
The special layers in the Tetra Pak cartons protect your delicious milk from harmful light and air which can cause your milk to lose both its taste and nutritional goodness. The in-built oxygen barrier in long-life cartons also allows your milk to be stored for up to 6 months, without the need for preservatives or refrigeration. This means that no nasties need to be added to keep your milk fresher for longer and it can help you save money with less milk waste.
Cartons also have a great environmental story to tell. Made mainly from wood, in the form of paperboard – a natural, renewable resource, they are repeatedly shown to be a low carbon packaging choice.
There are 406 Local Authorities within the UK that collect cartons and 88% of those either have bring banks or collect cartons through their kerbside collections. To date over 34% of these Local Authorities collect Moo cartons at kerbside (this figure is much greater in some areas, such as London where it is 61%) making it very easy for consumers to recycle their cartons.

Moo long life milk can be stored out of the fridge for up to 6 months as long as the pack is not opened. Once the pack is opened you should refrigerate and treat just like fresh milk. The milk should be used within 3 days of opening.
Moo milk should be treated as you would fresh milk. The Food Standards Agency recommend that from the age of one babies can switch from breast or formula milk to full fat cow’s milk.
After the age of two, children can then gradually move to semi-skimmed milk as a main drink, as long as they are eating a varied and balanced diet and growing well. Skimmed or 1% fat milk should not be given to children as a main drink until they are at least five years old.
